  • Where is the colon?

The colon (also known as the large intestine) is located at the end portion of the digestive tract. It ranges from about 5 ½ to 6 feet in length. The main functions of the colon are threefold: to absorb water and vitamins/electrolytes from indigestible food matter, to accept and store food remains that were not digested in the small intestine and to eliminate solid waste (feces) from the body. The colon contains nearly 60 varieties of microflora or bacteria to aid digestion, promote vital nutrient production, to maintain pH (acid-base) balance and to prevent proliferation of harmful bacteria.

  • How long does a colon cleansing last?

A typical colon cleansing usually lasts 40 to 60 minutes so as to achieve effective colon cleansing without causing electrolyte and hydration imbalances. In most cases, a patient should expect to undergo six (6) sessions if he or she wishes to cleanse the entire length of the colon.

  • Are there any contraindications for colon hydrotherapy?

I always recommend that you consult your physician if you have any concerns about the appropriateness of colon hydrotherapy. Contraindications for colon hydrotherapy include recent surgery, severe hemorrhoids, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, and cirrhosis of the liver, among others.

  • Is there any danger of contamination?

My colon hydrotherapy system utilizes disposable sterile rectal nozzles, multi-stage water filtration, and ozone sanitation to remove the danger of contamination.

  • Can I have a colon hydrotherapy session during menstruation?

Certainly! Some practitioners consider it a particularly good time for a female to have a colon hydrotherapy session since the body is already undergoing a cleansing cycle.

  • Will I experience any discomfort or fatigue after my colon hydrotherapy session?

Probably not. Some clients have reported a slight tiredness similar to a post-workout feeling. Therefore, it is recommended that you sip warm liquids after your therapy to soothe your system.

  • Can I work right after a colon hydrotherapy session?

Absolutely! You can work just as you would after a regular bowel movement.

  • How many colon hydrotherapy sessions does it take to clean the patient’s entire intestinal tract?

The entire length of the colon can be cleansed usually within five to six sessions.

  • Are colon hydrotherapy treatments painful?

Absolutely not. In fact most people find these sessions to be refreshing and relaxing. My clients often use their phone, laptop or read a book during their session.

  • Will colon hydrotherapy deplete my electrolytes?

No. You lose very little electrolytes during a colon cleanse. People often choose to supplement their treatment with acidophilus, bifidous, and any other good probiotic which can be purchased at a health food store.

  • Who needs a colon hydrotherapy treatment?

Everyone from the most avid meat eater to the strictest vegetarian. It is believed that a lot of accumulated waste in our colon stems from processed foods and polluted air that we have consumed throughout the years, thereby producing a sticky waste in our large intestine that results from fluids being absorbed during the digestive process.

  • Should I see my doctor before my session?

You do not need a doctor’s prescription. If you are concerned about your health and or colon, you should consult a doctor. If you are diagnosed with diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, severe hemorrhoids, rectal or intestinal tumors, you will not be a candidate for colon hydrotherapy.

  • How does one prepare for the first treatment?

Drink plenty of water a day before the treatment and refrain from eating two hours before the cleanse. The water will help hydrate the colon for better elimination.

  • What will I experience after the cleanse?

Most people feel a sense of calm and a lot of energy. Some clients experience a sense of sadness and tiredness. This is due to the toxins in the system that have been awakened. Drinking plenty of water and natural juices usually helps.

  • When should I get started?

Now. The sooner the better. It is amazing how light you will feel after the procedure. You need dedication and good eating and exercise habits along with a monthly cleanse, or cleanses, to maintain a healthy colon.
